So the sun is shining…
So with the shining and the weather warming up, it’s the time for new beginnings. A new pep in my step, new karma points (volunteering for a local op shop), new/old clothes, hopefully a fresh new “do” soon and a new ring on my finger. Getting engaged at the start of spring has given me a new lease on life and has given me a new found optimism.
Having had quite a few new beginnings this spring I decided to ad another to a list, start the blog I have been “meaning to do” for months. I have decided to write and blog about the things that inspire me the most in life, fashion, art, design, illustration and food.
With spring, out with the blacks and greys and in with the colour! This spring colour is in bigger, bolder and blockier than ever. This colour trend has me going colour blocking mad! Volunteering at the op shop I get the task of dressing the window display, for my very first display it only seems fitting to colour block. The fantastic thing about colour blocking is that there is no need to go into the biggest department store to achieve this look, colour has always been around, it’s just finding the right way to wear it, using colour pieces in your closet with some amazing vintage finds, the key is to wear it your way. In the op shop I had endless, combinations for this trend.
I know it’s a bit late in the month for this but I believe it is something that we can try to add to a daily lives. For the month of October we all should take this pledge:
To buy nothing new. Buy Nothing New is not about going without, nor is it Buy Nothing New Never. It’s about taking October to reassess what we really need, think about where the stuff we buy comes from (finite resources), where it goes (landfill), and what our alternatives are. It is about conscientious consumption and by not spending on stuff we don’t need, increasing our savings for the things we do need. Pledge to Buy Nothing New during October and challenge over consumption. You’ll have more time on your hands and money in your pockets.

Check out your local op shops and buy a unique vintage piece instead.
